The Northumberland Dog Hotel offers luxury boarding for pets in a modern setting
Birtley: Have you heard about the new Northumberland Dog Hotel? Owner Rachel Walton has set it up at Cowden Burn Farm, and it sounds amazing!
Rachel wanted to create a special place for dogs that feels more like home than a kennel. She’s really passionate about making sure pets are comfortable.
The hotel has ten rooms, each designed for dogs from different families. It’s not your typical kennel; it’s more like a luxury getaway for our furry friends.
Rachel and her husband, Nick, live on the farm with their two kids, Hollie and Grace. They’ve put a lot of thought into this place, and it shows.
They even fenced off five acres of land for the dogs to run around safely. Plus, there are 15 security cameras to keep an eye on everything, which is pretty cool!
Each room has underfloor heating and even TVs. Rachel believes this helps the dogs settle in better. It’s all about creating a cozy, home-like atmosphere.
She’s also added a grooming salon to the hotel, so everything is in one spot. Rachel has been grooming dogs since 2007, so she knows her stuff!
She’s got a great reputation in the dog world and even breeds show dogs. With 11 dogs of her own, she’s got plenty of experience to help nervous pets feel at ease.
Rachel’s already had 270 bookings, and it’s clear that people are looking for better options for their pets. Many are traveling quite a distance to stay at the hotel.
During the summer, the hotel is already 75% booked! Rachel is even looking to hire more staff as things get busier.
She’s thrilled with the support she’s received and wants to make sure every dog gets the best care possible. If you’re interested, check out the Northumberland Dog Hotel on Facebook for more info!
