Recent planning decisions in Northumberland include solar panel installations and a new telecom pole, while some proposals faced rejection.
Cramlington: Last week, there were some interesting planning decisions in Northumberland. Two proposals for solar panels were approved. One is for Crookham Village Hall, and the other is for Allendale Health Centre.
Both projects can move forward without needing prior approval, which is great news. The panels at Crookham will go on the south and west roofs, while the ones at Allendale will be on the south side.
They’ll even have an inverter and a PV generation meter tucked away in the roof space. In Greenhead, they also gave the green light for an 11-metre telecom pole near Thirlwall Castle Farm. This one is classified as permitted development, so it can go ahead without a full application.
Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington got the thumbs up to replace its helipad with a slightly larger one. It’ll be just a bit north and east of where it is now but will keep the same design, staying close to the emergency department.
However, not everything was approved. A plan for new apartments for folks over 55 in Cramlington was turned down. They wanted to build 33 apartments with access and parking, but it didn’t get the go-ahead.
They were looking to access it from the B1326 public highway, but it seems the proposal didn’t meet the necessary criteria. If you want to check out more about planning applications, you can find all the details on the Northumberland Council website.
