The owners of a Shildon shop express deep gratitude to firefighters who saved their classic bikes from a devastating fire
Shildon: On a chilly Monday morning, fire crews rushed to PM Racing Team on Church Street after a fire broke out around 10:12 am. Five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were on the scene, working hard to control the flames.
Firefighters from nearby towns like Bishop Auckland and Darlington battled the blaze for nearly six hours. Thankfully, no one got hurt, and the fire was ruled accidental, mostly affecting the shop.
While the fire caused significant damage, including a collapsed roof, the owners, Patrizio and Marie Marchetti, were relieved that their collection of classic bikes, especially a prized Ducati 916sp, was saved.
Marie shared her heartfelt thanks, saying, “Words can’t express how grateful we are that no one was injured and that the crews managed to contain the fire.” She praised the firefighters for their bravery, acknowledging the risks they take every day.
“You really are heroes. Thank you all so much, and please stay safe,” she added, still in shock from the incident but grateful for the support they received.
