Ryan Sutton, 24, groomed and raped a ten-year-old girl he met online, leading to his arrest and a six-year prison sentence.
Worcester: So, there’s this really disturbing case involving a guy named Ryan Sutton. He’s 24 and he met a ten-year-old girl on Snapchat. He totally groomed her, making her think he was her boyfriend. Can you believe that?
They started chatting a lot—texting, calling, even FaceTiming. Then, a month later, he decided to meet her in Findon, Northamptonshire. They were found in some woods, and when the police showed up, he tried to run away.
It took a while for the girl to come forward about what happened, but eventually, she did. Sutton had condoms in his bag when he was caught, which is just sickening.
He faced some serious charges, including rape and assault of a girl under 13. In the end, he got six years in jail, plus an extra year on extended license. He’s also on the sex offenders register for life.
The detective on the case, James Wright, said Sutton is one of the worst offenders he’s seen. He really manipulated this young girl, making her think he cared about her. It’s just heartbreaking.
Sutton showed no remorse at all. Even when he was caught, he tried to blame the girl for what happened. It wasn’t until his first court hearing that he finally admitted guilt, but he still acted like he was the victim.
The detective praised the bravery of the young victim and her family for coming forward. He hopes they can start to heal now that Sutton is behind bars. It’s a tough road, but at least they can feel safer knowing he can’t hurt anyone else.
