Frustrated parents in Yorkshire express anger over continued school closures due to snow and icy conditions
Yorkshire: Parents are really upset right now. Schools across the area are still closed because of the snow and ice. It’s been a tough few days for families.
The snow hit hard last weekend, and even though the worst is over, it hasn’t melted much. With temperatures dropping, the snow has turned into ice in many spots, making things tricky.
Some schools have been shut for four days straight, which is causing a lot of hassle for parents and kids. Many parents are speaking up, saying it’s time for schools to reopen, while others are pointing fingers at the icy streets.
One parent, Helen, shared her thoughts on Facebook, saying the closures are mainly due to unsafe streets for kids. She feels it’s unfair to blame the schools. Another parent, Beverley, mentioned how health and safety rules have changed over the years, making it tough for schools to decide.
Steven chimed in, feeling for working parents who have to take time off or scramble for childcare just because of some ice. He remembers walking to school without a hitch back in the day.
Janine had a strong opinion too, saying some schools are managing just fine and that kids should toughen up a bit. Ian called the situation a joke, especially since it’s been days since the snow fell.
