A piece of a Typhoon jet landed in a field, leaving locals rattled and prompting an investigation by the RAF into the incident
Haisthorpe: So, there was this wild incident where a part of a Typhoon jet just dropped from the sky. Deborah Colman was totally freaked out when she saw a pylon fall from the jet above her home. It all happened on January 17, and the jet had taken off from RAF Coningsby, which is about 66 miles away.
Deborah described the moment as absolutely terrifying. She thought, “What if it had landed closer? It could’ve hit our house or someone on the road.” I mean, that’s a scary thought, right? There’s even a train line nearby, so it could have been a real disaster.
After hearing a loud bang and seeing something fall, Deborah and her husband Shaun went to check it out. When they got there, they found a metallic object in a small crater, and a policeman was keeping everyone back. He was on his radio, saying there might be chemicals involved. Yikes!
Later that night, Shaun noticed some lights in the field as uniformed folks were removing the object. Deborah wondered if they would’ve kept it quiet if no one had seen it. She felt that people should know about these things because it’s pretty concerning.
An RAF spokesperson confirmed that a pylon had detached from the Typhoon and landed in an open area. They’re looking into why it happened and have already recovered the equipment. It’s definitely a situation that has everyone talking!
