A tragic incident in London’s West End has led to the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car on Christmas Day
London: A pedestrian hit by a car in the West End on Christmas Day has sadly died. The police confirmed that Aidan Chapman, just 25, passed away in the hospital on New Year’s Eve.
He was one of four pedestrians struck on Shaftesbury Avenue. The police are treating this as a homicide, and a post-mortem is set to happen soon.
Aidan’s parents shared their heartbreak, saying losing their son is a nightmare. They described him as a loving and funny person who brought joy to everyone around him.
Meanwhile, Anthony Gilheaney, 30, from Harlow, Essex, is facing serious charges, including attempted murder. He’s due back in court on January 24.
The police are looking into the case further, especially since Aidan’s death changes the situation. They’re asking anyone with footage of the incident to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley expressed condolences to Aidan’s family and friends, emphasizing that this was an isolated incident and not linked to terrorism.
