Residents were evacuated in Birkenhead after police found an unexploded bomb during a property search
Birkenhead: So, there was this wild situation last night. The police were doing a stop and search in the area and ended up finding an unexploded bomb in a house. Can you believe it?
They had to cordon off Briardale Road and evacuate a few homes just to be safe. It all started when they stopped a car at the junction of Brassey and Patten Streets around midnight. They found some ammunition, and the driver got arrested.
A 63-year-old guy from Oxton is in custody now, suspected of having a firearm without a license. After searching his place, they discovered the bomb. Talk about a serious find!
The police called in the army’s explosive ordnance disposal team to handle the situation. They’re being super cautious, which is why some folks had to leave their homes for a bit.
They’ve closed off the road and are asking drivers to steer clear of the area while they sort everything out. The police are thanking the locals for their patience during this whole ordeal.
