Redcar: The council is urging everyone to steer clear of the sinkhole while they figure things out. It’s a bit of a mess right now.

They’re still chatting with experts to find out what caused the hole, but it seems to be linked to an old borehole from mining days.

Some folks have been messing with the previous fencing, which is super frustrating. So, they’re planning to put up stronger, more permanent fencing to keep everyone safe.

A spokesperson from the council said, “For your own safety, please avoid the area on Eston Recreation Ground where the sinkhole is.”

They’re working with geologists to get to the bottom of this and will do a full survey soon. They think the sinkhole is right where that old borehole used to be.

They’ll keep everyone updated as they learn more. And if you’re walking your dog nearby, make sure to keep it on a lead!
