Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre introduces a befriending service to combat loneliness and provide support to those in need
Pershore: The Pershore Plus Volunteer Centre has just launched a new befriending service. This initiative is all about connecting people who might be feeling lonely or isolated.
They’re offering both face-to-face chats and phone calls. It’s a great way to provide companionship and emotional support to those who really need it.
Right now, they’re in a soft launch phase, which means they’re starting small with a limited number of placements. It’s perfect for anyone feeling a bit alone, especially those dealing with mental health issues.
Karon Swinburn, the CEO, shared that they know how tough isolation can be, especially these days. Their volunteer team is ready to listen and offer support to anyone struggling.
They truly believe in the power of human connection and are excited to help people reconnect with the support they deserve.
The project is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who match individuals with trained befrienders. These befrienders are there to provide emotional support and practical help when needed.
They engage in meaningful conversations, whether in person or over the phone, offering comfort and a friendly ear.
This soft launch will help them gather feedback from everyone involved to make sure the program is top-notch.
They want to ensure it meets the highest standards of care and service for those who need it.
As they kick things off, they’re also on the lookout for new volunteers who want to make a positive difference in their community.
If you’re interested in getting support or want to volunteer, reach out to Donna King at admin@pershorevolunteers.org.uk or call 01386 554299.
The centre has been around since 1984, working hard to support residents facing rural or social isolation and fighting loneliness for over 40 years.
