Merxin, a pharmaceutical supplier, is the first to occupy a new unit at Kings Lynn Enterprise Park; a welcome boost to the region’s economy.
Merxin moved from the Innovation Centre because they outgrew their space, and the new office is on Lynn’s Enterprise Park. This move keeps sixteen jobs in the area and helps Merxin grow, freeing up space for new businesses.
The council invested £7 million in the units, partnering with New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership; now, Norfolk County Council manages it. There are two office and two industrial units in the park.
A new road opened for development, providing access to even more land. The Enterprise Park covers 15 hectares, and is a crucial area for West Norfolk’s growth due its good links to major roads.
Merxin’s technology officer commented on the move, noting the company’s jump in scale as the business went from one office to its own building. This growth is a major step for the company.
They design inhalers for the pharmaceutical industry, and the new building suits their needs, helping them grow and invest in research. The company also plans to create local, skilled jobs, and the council’s support was invaluable.
A council member said their investment helps by providing modern space for businesses in a well-connected place. This supports local jobs and innovation, especially for successful local businesses like Merxin.
Another council member spoke, stating that support helps businesses grow, and Merxin shows the benefits of innovation. Good buildings plus connectivity are key, as they encourage enterprise and job growth.
The Enterprise Park will support growing businesses wanting to expand or relocate, with the goal of creating a modern employment area. Local skills in engineering and agri-food will help, especially in emerging sectors like medi-tech.
The park is key to West Norfolk’s strategy, increasing support for new businesses. They are focusing on manufacturing, which is a growing sector of their economy along with advanced engineering.
