Phoenix St Peter Academy has received high praise for its significant improvements in the latest Ofsted report, showcasing a remarkable turnaround.
Lowestoft: A primary school by the sea is getting a lot of love for its amazing turnaround. Phoenix St Peter Academy just had its Ofsted inspection, and wow, did they impress!
They were visited on November 12 and 13, and the results were fantastic. The school got a “good” rating in four key areas, like education quality and student behavior. Leadership? Outstanding!
This is a huge leap from their past inspections in 2022 and 2018 when they were told they needed improvement. Headteacher Matthew Jordan is over the moon about the progress they’ve made.
He said they’re super proud of the kids and the pride they show in their school, which really stood out in the report. The staff has put in a ton of hard work, and it shows!
Matthew mentioned that the school has changed so much thanks to great leadership. They’ve rolled out an ambitious curriculum that helps all kids succeed.
The report also gave a shout-out to the staff for being skilled and always looking for ways to improve, which has led to quick gains across the board.
After some ups and downs with staff changes, the school is back on track. They’ve really stepped up their curriculum, which was previously called underdeveloped.
Now, everything is planned out well, and students know exactly what they’re learning and when. For instance, kids in Years 5 and 6 are grasping concepts like air resistance, building on what they learned before.
All students, including those with special needs, are doing well, thanks to fun trips to local historic sites. However, they’re still working on making sure all activities fit the needs of every student.
Attendance is also a big focus, and the school is all about building good relationships with families to help kids get to school. Inspectors noticed that students feel welcome, and kindness is a big part of the school culture.
