Olga Stezhko will perform at Darlington Central Hall on January 19, showcasing Beethoven and more in an exciting recital.
Darlington: The Darlington Piano Society is kicking off its 2024-25 season with a special recital by Olga Stezhko. It’s happening at Central Hall on Sunday, January 19, at 3 PM.
Olga isn’t new to the area; she’s played for the town’s Music Society a few times before. But this will be her first time with the piano society, which is pretty exciting!
Greg Johnson, the society chairman, mentioned that even after 29 seasons, there are still some Beethoven sonatas they haven’t played. He’s thrilled that Olga is stepping up to introduce two of them to the audience.
Originally from Minsk, Olga has quite the impressive background. She studied in Belarus, Italy, and the UK, where she earned her degrees with flying colors at the Royal Academy of Music.
She’s performed all over the globe, including big names like Barbican Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Talk about a resume!
For this recital, she’ll be playing two Beethoven sonatas that haven’t been featured before, plus the well-known Op 31, No 3. The second half will include pieces by Bach, Poulenc, Debussy, and some lesser-known works by Lev Abeliovich.
If you want to catch this performance, you can find the full program and buy tickets online at www.dpiano.co.uk. Tickets are also available at the door for £18, and if you’re under 21, you can get in for free!
Oh, and if you’re a fan of her music, she’ll have her solo piano recordings available at the recital too. Sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
