Edgar Maddison Welch, known for the Pizzagate incident, was shot by police during a traffic stop due to an outstanding warrant
Kannapolis: A man known as the “Pizzagate” gunman was shot by police this week during a traffic stop. Edgar Maddison Welch was pulled over because he had an outstanding warrant.
Back in 2016, Welch made headlines when he walked into a pizza shop in D.C. with a gun, believing it was part of a child trafficking ring linked to Hillary Clinton. He was sentenced to four years for that incident.
Last Saturday, an officer recognized his car and stopped him. When the officer tried to arrest him, Welch pulled out a gun. The police shot him when he refused to drop it.
He was taken to the hospital but sadly passed away two days later. The police involved are on administrative leave while the situation is investigated.
This incident wraps up a wild chapter in the Pizzagate conspiracy, which falsely claimed that Clinton and her team were involved in a child trafficking operation.
Welch had stormed the restaurant back in 2016, causing panic among families. He fired a shot but thankfully no one was hurt. Afterward, he admitted he acted on misinformation he found online.
The restaurant faced a barrage of threats and harassment due to the conspiracy. Its owner expressed how exhausting it was to protect his staff from the fallout of such a ridiculous theory.
