The beloved Pizzini Coffee Shop has shut its doors after severe flooding hit Bottesford, leaving the family business in distress.
Bottesford: It’s been a tough time for the Pizzini Coffee Shop family. They just reopened after a six-week closure, and now they’re facing floods that have forced them to shut down again.
The café, a local favorite for 14 years, was a real community hub. But on Monday morning, the owners, Ralph and Teresa Morgan, found their shop underwater. It was heartbreaking for them.
They had never seen flooding like this before. “When we got here and saw our business like this, we just cried,” Teresa shared. The heavy rain and melting snow caused the River Devon and River Smite to overflow, turning the main street into a river.
Now, they’re waiting for their insurance to assess the damage. Most of their electronics are ruined, and they’re unsure when they can reopen. “We’ve lost earnings, and we’re self-employed, so it’s tough,” Teresa explained.
Despite the challenges, the community has rallied around them. “We’ve had hundreds of messages of support,” she said. Local businesses have been checking in, and it’s been heartwarming to see everyone come together.
Charlie, their son, mentioned how an 85-year-old lady even came by to help clean up. People have been directing traffic to keep vehicles from making the flooding worse. “It’s been a real village effort,” he said.
While the situation is tough, the family is trying to stay positive. “There are people worse off than us,” Charlie noted. They’re grateful for the support and hopeful for the future.
