New housing plans in a Bristol suburb gain approval, promising minimal traffic impact and improved access for residents.
Bristol: Exciting news for the area! Planning permission has been given for 14 new homes in a suburb just north of the city. The best part? It won’t cause a big traffic jam.
The new homes will be built on a field at the corner of Hambrook Lane and the Stoke Gifford bypass. This is part of a larger neighborhood project happening east of Harry Stoke. Local councilors gave the thumbs up to the plans recently, but there are still some details to sort out.
Some folks nearby were worried about more cars on the narrow Hambrook Lane. But interestingly, no one showed up to voice their concerns at the meeting. A planning consultant mentioned that the extra traffic would be pretty minimal.
Stuart Rackham, the planning agent for the developers, explained that the new access point will be further down Hambrook Lane, away from busy spots. He said it would only add about one car every eight and a half minutes, which isn’t much at all.
Plus, they’re planning to build a two-meter wide path along Hambrook Lane. This will help residents get to the Metrobus stops on the new relief road more easily. The existing gate to the field will be closed off, and a wider path will connect to the nearby housing development.
Speaking of that, there’s a much larger project next door with 144 new homes as part of a massive development of 1,290 homes. So, it looks like this area is really growing!
