A new housing project in Huddersfield is moving forward with plans for over 700 homes, including affordable options and community amenities
Huddersfield: Exciting news! Plans for a new housing estate are really taking shape. The Vistry Group and Miller Homes have teamed up to develop a site off Blackmoorfoot Road.
This area used to be a quarry and even a fireworks factory, but now it’s set to become home to over 700 new houses. Vistry is looking to build 469 homes, mixing affordable options with those for the open market.
Miller Homes will add another 231 homes for private buyers. Plus, they’re planning to include a care home and a local store, which is pretty cool.
They promise a variety of house styles, from cozy one-bedroom places to spacious five-bedroom homes. It’s all about giving people choices!
While there’s no start date yet, the developers are excited about the green spaces they’ll create. Think parks and play areas, with a quarter of the land set aside for greenery.
They’re also investing in the community, with plans to put £1.3 million into local schools and £900,000 for transport improvements. Sounds like a win-win!
Andrew Poyner from Vistry said this project will really help meet local housing needs and breathe new life into the area. And Justin Tranmere from Miller Homes is thrilled to be part of it, focusing on sustainable living.
It’s great to see such positive developments in Huddersfield, especially after the project was on hold last year. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
