A new proposal aims to build a wheelchair-friendly home in Basingstoke, enhancing accessibility for residents in the area.
Basingstoke: A new application has been submitted to the council for a wheelchair-accessible house. This would be built on garden land behind Fairfield House on Ashford Hill Road.
The plan is to get full permission for a two-story, three-bedroom home. It’ll have features that make it easier for someone in a wheelchair to live there.
The design is inspired by nearby homes, using traditional materials like timber doors and red bricks. It’s meant to fit in nicely with the local vibe.
There will also be space for bins and bikes, plus a garden area at the back. The ground floor will be all on one level, making it super accessible.
Upstairs, there will be three bedrooms, and there’s even an extra bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. The house will face northwest towards Riddings Lane.
According to a design consultant, there’s room for at least three parking spaces, so cars can easily come and go. The whole design has been thought out to match the rural feel of the area.
