Proposals aim to transform neglected structures into two four-bedroom houses
Seaham: So, there’s this plan to knock down an old building in County Durham to make way for two new homes. It’s been sitting there, unused, for over 20 years. Crazy, right?
The idea is to build two four-bedroom houses using those classic Victorian-style red bricks. They’ll even have slate-effect roofs, which sounds pretty nice. Each house will come with a block-paved driveway, too.
And get this, there will be six parking spaces for the new residents. Plus, they’re making sure everything’s connected to the local sewer system, and the area isn’t at risk of flooding. Smart move!
The planning application is moving forward, and neighbors have already been informed. If the council gives the green light, construction could start soon.
This site is about 800 square meters and is surrounded by homes, a school, and some open grasslands. It’s a decent spot for new houses.
Now, if they get the go-ahead, construction will happen during specific hours—weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. No work on Sundays or holidays, which is nice for the neighbors.
They’re also being careful about deliveries, allowing them only between 9 am and 5 pm on weekdays. Plus, to keep the noise and dust down, construction vehicles will have a speed limit of 10 mph on site.
They’ve got plans for waste management too, promising to reuse materials and recycle as much as possible. Sounds like they’re trying to be responsible about it.
There will be a site manager to keep in touch with the council and residents, addressing any concerns that pop up. And for security, they’re thinking about high plywood hoardings and maybe even some surveillance cameras.
Overall, it looks like they’re trying to do this right, keeping the community in the loop and making sure everything’s safe and sound. Those old buildings really need a makeover!
