A proposal has been submitted to convert the Glencairn Bar in Stevenston into a residential home, aiming to revitalize the area.
Stevenston: So, there’s this plan to turn the Glencairn Bar into a house. The folks at Europe Jersey Ltd are behind it, and they’ve sent their proposal to the council.
This bar has been around for ages, sitting at the corner of New Street and Afton Road. But it’s been struggling lately, and the application says it’s “failing.”
The idea is to change it up so it doesn’t just sit there empty. They want to keep the town lively, which sounds good, right?
If the council gives the green light, they won’t change much on the outside. Just a couple of new windows on the New Street side, and a small fence with a gate on Afton Road.
They’ll also add a new door at the back and set up a bin store in the car park. Not too much fuss, really.
Inside, it’ll be a cozy home with four bedrooms, a lounge, a snug, a kitchen, and a bathroom, all on one floor. They’ll use parts of the bar area for the bedrooms and lounge.
They’ll even convert the toilets into a bathroom and turn the bar’s cellar into another bedroom. Sounds like a neat little setup!
The plans were sent to the council on January 6, and they’re hoping for a decision by March 6. You can check out the full application online if you’re curious.
