A new padel tennis club is set to open in Birmingham, featuring 10 courts and a community-focused design near a major Amazon facility
Birmingham: Exciting news for sports fans! A plan is in the works to build the first dedicated padel tennis club in Birmingham. It’ll be right next to a huge Amazon warehouse, making it super convenient.
IM Properties, the company behind this project, is teaming up with The Padel Club to create a 10-court facility. They believe this spot, near Minworth, is perfect for introducing padel to the city.
This location is part of Sutton Connect’s ‘Green Travel District,’ so it’ll be easy to get there by walking, cycling, or public transport. Plus, it’s right off the A38, which is a bonus.
The Padel Club has some big names backing it, like Michael Vaughan and Jos Buttler. They’re working on plans for the club, which still need approval, but it sounds promising!
The facility will have two open-air courts and eight covered ones, along with a clubhouse and a nice social area. Padel is a fun, social sport that’s growing fast in the UK, and it’s great for players of all ages.
For those who don’t know, padel is a mix of tennis and squash, played on a smaller court with glass walls. Kris Ball, the CEO of The Padel Club, mentioned that their clubs are about more than just playing sports; they’re about building connections and community.
Birmingham is the next exciting step for them, and they’re thrilled to partner with IM Properties to make this happen. They want to create a vibrant hub where people can come together.
IM Properties is all about sustainability and community, and they see this project as a way to leave a lasting impact. Richard Lawrence, their development director, emphasized the importance of creating spaces that encourage socializing and community building.
The Padel Club already has a few locations in Cheshire and Gloucester, with more on the way, including this one in Birmingham. This news comes on the heels of another proposal for a sustainable facility in the same area.
Since opening, the Amazon site has helped create over 1,400 jobs in Peddimore, and IM Properties has also set up a Community Fund to support local projects and charities. It’s all about making a positive difference!
