A police officer has been dismissed following a serious misconduct case involving a sex attack in Brighton’s Travelodge hotel
Brighton: A Metropolitan Police detective has been let go after a troubling incident at a Travelodge hotel. Detective Constable Kamal Baldeo was involved in a situation with a woman, known as “Ms A,” back in May 2021.
They had gone out for food and drinks before heading to his hotel room. While some consensual activity happened, things took a turn when Baldeo allegedly asked if it would matter if they had sex. Ms A clearly said no, but the next morning, he reportedly had penetrative sex with her without her consent.
After Ms A reported the incident, a criminal investigation was launched, but no further action was taken against Baldeo. He admitted to having sex with her but insisted it was consensual.
The misconduct panel concluded that Baldeo acted inappropriately, stating he breached police standards and engaged in gross misconduct. As a result, he was dismissed without notice.
Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland emphasized the seriousness of such allegations, noting the courage it took for Ms A to come forward. She highlighted the commitment to maintaining high standards within the police force.
