Authorities are looking into signs linked to a racially-motivated incident outside a primary school in Lurgan
Mourneview, Lurgan: Police are on the case after some troubling signs popped up outside a primary school in Lurgan. This happened on Monday evening in the Pollock Drive area.
Superintendent Brendan Green, the District Commander for Armagh City, Banbridge, and Craigavon, shared that they got a report about the signs being tied to the school railings. Thankfully, the officers took them down right away.
They’re treating this as a possible racially-motivated public order offence and are still digging into the details. Green mentioned they’ll keep in touch with local community leaders as they move forward with the investigation.
This incident comes on the heels of other hate crimes in the area, where some properties were vandalized after a child was reportedly approached suspiciously in a nearby play park.
Green urged anyone who might have information about the signs to reach out to the police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1672 06/01/25. You can also report online or contact Crimestoppers if you want to stay anonymous.
