Cleveland Police and locals worked together for two hours to rescue a cow trapped in ice at Seaton Common, reuniting it with its calf.
Seaton Common: So, there was this wild scene at Seaton Common Nature Reserve near Hartlepool. A bunch of folks spotted a cow stuck in the ice by the North Gare car park. It was quite the sight!
When the Cleveland Police showed up around 1:30 PM, they jumped right in to help. They tried to coax the poor cow out, but it was clear it needed a bit more than just a gentle nudge.
For the next two hours, the police and some kind-hearted locals worked together to pull the cow out without hurting it. They were super careful, which was great to see.
One witness, Sue, mentioned that the police used a pole with some bright green tape tied to it. They managed to loop it around the cow’s neck and, with everyone’s help, slowly pulled it free.
It was a tough situation for the cow, who looked completely worn out. Meanwhile, its calf was running around mooing, clearly worried about its mom. It was a real heart-tugging moment!
Just as they got the cow out and reunited it with its calf, the fire brigade arrived. Talk about timing! But thankfully, the cow was safe and sound.
