Glasgow: Jamaica Street is currently shut down at the Four Corners area. This happened around 8:20 AM on Wednesday, January 8.

The city council closed the road at 7:20 AM due to a “police incident” that was unfolding.

Police have locked down the area while they look into an incident reported earlier today.

They got a call around 3:30 AM about a disturbance and a possible serious assault on Jamaica Street.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but they didn’t find anyone involved. The police are still investigating what happened.

Even though the road is closed, businesses on Jamaica Street are still open for customers.

Access to Midland Street from Jamaica Street remains available, so that’s good news.

Photos taken around 7:45 AM show officers standing guard in the area, keeping an eye on things.

They’re asking anyone who might have seen something suspicious early this morning to reach out.

Sergeant David McIntosh thanked the public for their patience while they work in the area.

He encouraged anyone with information to call police at 101, mentioning incident 0291 from January 8. If you want to stay anonymous, you can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
