Police are on the lookout for men who used bolt cutters to steal luxury handbags worth £21,000 from boutiques in London and Surrey
Cobham: So, there’s been a wild theft spree in Surrey and southwest London. Police are chasing after some guys who rolled in with bolt cutters and made off with over £20,000 worth of designer handbags. Can you believe it?
The first hit was at Phoenix Style in Cobham around 5:30 PM on a Monday. They just walked in, brandished those bolt cutters, and snagged a £6,000 bag. It’s left everyone in the area pretty shaken up.
Then, the very next day, they hit another store in Wimbledon Village, grabbing £15,000 worth of stock. Talk about bold! The owner, Paige Mengers, was so frustrated with the police response that she even wrote an open letter to the Commissioner. She felt like they didn’t take it seriously enough.
Paige shared how scared her staff were during the whole ordeal. One of them was literally shaking after seeing the thieves come in. They pressed the panic button, but the police didn’t show up. It’s just awful.
In a video update, Paige mentioned that the same guys came back to rob the Wimbledon store too. They didn’t even bother hiding their faces. One guy was blocking the doors while the other snatched more bags. It’s just crazy how brazen they are!
She’s been getting a lot of support from the community, which is great. They’ve got some solid footage of the thieves, and she’s hoping that sharing it will help catch them. Surrey Police finally came by to take a statement, which is a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police are still investigating the Wimbledon theft, but no arrests have been made yet. It’s a bit concerning, especially with all these designer bag thefts happening lately. Just last month, a model had her £10,000 Birkin bag snatched right off her while she was shopping!
If anyone saw anything or has info, they’re urging people to reach out to the police. Let’s hope they catch these guys soon!
