Residents in Charter Alley can now enjoy restored power after a planned outage for infrastructure upgrades
Charter Alley: So, there was this planned power outage that hit the homes in Charter Alley. It happened on January 13, and it was all set up by SSEN.
The power was out from 9 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon. They needed to install a new transformer to help with the electricity for some new homes being built nearby.
Even the local shop, Charter Alley Village Store, felt the impact. They opened early at 7:30 AM but had to close at 9 AM when the power went off.
This little shop, which also serves coffee and cakes, was ready to welcome customers back once the power was restored. They even posted on Facebook, inviting folks to come in for a warm drink and a chat.
But not everyone was happy about the outage. Some residents, like Peter Hobbs, were worried about how the cold weather would affect vulnerable people without power.
Peter mentioned he understood the need for the outage but thought it was a bit much to do it during a cold snap. Others echoed his feelings, calling it inconsiderate.
SSEN did send out letters to inform residents about the outage well in advance, but it still left some folks feeling uneasy about the timing.
