A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 43 years for attempting to murder a girl he groomed online
Middlesbrough: A 24-year-old man named Ellis Dismore has been sentenced to 43 years in prison. He tried to murder a 15-year-old girl he had groomed online.
Police reported that Dismore sent threatening voice messages to the girl’s family before he attacked her. He stabbed her multiple times in broad daylight.
The attack happened in June 2023 and was caught on a dashcam. Thankfully, some brave bystanders rushed in to help the girl.
At Teesside Crown Court, Dismore was found guilty of attempted murder and over 20 other offenses against young girls.
He had been grooming the girl online and sent her family chilling messages. After she got off a school bus, he attacked her but stopped when a driver intervened.
In November, he was convicted of 16 more offenses against other girls. Dismore had been using fake profiles for seven years to lure young girls into sending him indecent photos.
He threatened to share those photos if they didn’t comply with his demands. Dismore even tried to meet some of his victims in person.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Hamilton praised the victims for their bravery in coming forward. He highlighted how Dismore’s actions escalated to a terrifying knife attack.
Debbie Breen from the CPS called Dismore a dangerous predator who manipulated young girls through fear. She emphasized the importance of the victims’ testimonies in securing his conviction.
Rani Govender from the NSPCC expressed concern over how Dismore created a fake teenage profile to target girls. She stressed the need for tech companies to make their platforms safer for young users.
