A man is set to be sentenced for the brutal rape and killing of an NHS worker in a London park, leaving her family devastated.
Southall: A man named Mohamed Iidow is facing a hefty prison sentence for the horrific rape and manslaughter of Natalie Shotter, a vulnerable NHS worker. This tragic incident happened on a park bench after she had a night out.
During the trial at the Old Bailey, it was revealed that Iidow, 35, repeatedly assaulted the 37-year-old while she was unconscious. The jury didn’t even hear about his past conviction for trying to groom young people online, which is pretty shocking.
Prosecutor Alison Morgan explained that Natalie died from a heart attack triggered by the brutal assaults. CCTV footage showed her lying still for about half an hour before Iidow approached her. It’s just heartbreaking to think about.
After the attack, Iidow casually drove home, stopping to buy cat food and mouthwash, completely unfazed. Natalie was found dead in the park the next morning by a passer-by, which is just so tragic.
Her mother, Dr. Cas Shotter Weetman, expressed relief that justice was served after what she described as an unbearable trial. She shared how beautiful and kind Natalie was, a great mom to her three kids, who are now left without her.
It’s a tough situation, and the family is trying to cope with this unimaginable loss. They even laid tributes to her at the hospital where she worked, showing just how much she meant to them and the community.
