A prison officer was assaulted by an inmate who threw urine and faeces at him, causing significant distress and humiliation.
Bridgend: So, there was this really gross incident at HMP Parc. A prison officer named Christopher Alley got hit with urine and faeces by a prisoner. Can you believe that?
The inmate, Brandon Fisher, who’s 25, decided to throw the stuff at Alley on June 26, 2023. Alley said he felt something warm on his face and, well, it wasn’t exactly pleasant.
In court, they talked about how the liquid smelled awful and had “lumpy bits.” Alley thought he’d been “potted,” which is prison slang for this kind of disgusting attack. It got all over him, and he was understandably upset.
When Alley looked to see who did it, he spotted Fisher with a Tupperware container. Alley asked him why he did it, but Fisher just ran off and locked himself in his cell. What a coward, right?
Prosecutor Nuhu Gobir mentioned that when the prison manager came to check things out, he noticed a terrible smell and saw the mess on the floor. Fisher was moved to another prison and didn’t say much when they interviewed him.
Later, Fisher pleaded guilty to causing harm with the intent to annoy. Turns out, he has a pretty long rap sheet with 21 previous convictions for various crimes, including another similar incident.
In a statement read in court, Alley said he didn’t think he did anything to provoke Fisher. He believed the attack was more about settling a debt, which happens in prison. He also mentioned how degrading the whole experience was and how it made him feel sick for days.
Fisher is now being assessed for ADHD, and the judge, Simon Mills, called the attack “utterly terrible.” He sentenced Fisher to 22 months in prison, which will start after his current sentence ends.
It’s just a reminder of how tough it can be for prison officers. They deal with a lot, and incidents like this make it even harder to do their jobs.
