A prison officer has been sentenced to 15 months for engaging in sexual acts with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth, shocking the public.
London: A prison guard named Linda De Sousa Abreu got herself into serious trouble after being caught on video having sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth. She was sentenced to 15 months in prison for her actions.
The 30-year-old, who lives in Fulham, pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office. This all came to light when the video went viral, and she was arrested while trying to leave the country.
On June 27, while on duty, she entered the inmate’s cell and engaged in sexual acts. Another prisoner filmed the whole thing, and it was described as a five-minute encounter where she was an “enthusiastic participant.”
Her actions were seen as a serious breach of trust, and the court made it clear that there’s no excuse for a prison officer to behave this way. She was arrested at Heathrow Airport, just as she was about to board a flight to Madrid.
Before leaving, she even called the prison to say she wouldn’t be coming back to work. The Crown Prosecution Service emphasized that they take such misconduct very seriously and will prosecute anyone who abuses their position.
