London: A notorious thief, Michael Daulat, has been sentenced to over four years in prison for a spree of burglaries that racked up around £250,000 in losses. This guy really went all out, targeting high-end shops in the West End after hours.

Daulat, 44, had a habit of smashing windows with bricks to grab expensive items like jewelry and designer bags. Sometimes, he even used a bamboo fishing rod to snag stuff through letterboxes. Talk about creative!

He’s no stranger to trouble, either. With over 100 convictions to his name, most of them for theft, he’s been in and out of the system for years. His latest crime spree lasted from April to September last year, focusing on posh areas like Marylebone and Soho.

The judge wasn’t having it. After Daulat admitted to 17 more offenses, his sentence was bumped up to four years and four months. The judge pointed out how his actions caused a lot of distress to shop owners and workers.

Last summer’s crime spree not only cost shops a fortune in stolen goods but also in damages and lost sales. The police did a great job catching him, and it’s estimated that Daulat has cost the justice system over £330,000 in the last decade.

He’s had a rough past, too. Daulat’s lawyer mentioned a tough childhood and struggles with drugs after moving to London. But there’s a glimmer of hope; he’s recently reconnected with his sister, who’s offered to help him turn his life around.

The judge has banned him from entering Westminster for five years and urged him to seek rehab. It’s a chance for Daulat to get his life back on track, and let’s hope he takes it seriously this time.
