Ben Tinkler receives the Public Service Award for his dedication to supporting individuals with learning disabilities in County Durham
County Durham: Ben Tinkler saw a need in his community and decided to do something about it. He noticed that people with learning disabilities struggled to find jobs. So, he started Bridge Creative to help them out.
Fast forward six years, and Bridge Creative has made a real difference. They’ve helped over 200 individuals gain confidence and work experience. It’s all about giving these folks a chance to shine.
People say Ben is a true champion for inclusion. He really highlights how valuable individuals with learning disabilities can be.
One of his standout achievements is helping to create the Bishop Auckland Christmas Town. Visitors rave about how fabulous the event is, thanks to his efforts.
When he accepted the award, the crowd went wild with applause. Ben humbly said, “This award is for the amazing people we support who are out there working hard in the community.”
He emphasized how inspiring it is to see these individuals in their jobs, showing what they can achieve.
With a smile, he joked, “If anyone has any jobs going…” and the audience laughed along with him.
