A spy for Putin was found with a shocking collection of gadgets in the UK, raising serious security concerns
Norfolk: So, there’s this wild story about a spy for Putin who got caught with a stash of crazy gadgets. This guy, Orlin Roussev, 46, thought he was like “Q” from James Bond, all cool and techy.
He’s been running a spy ring for the Kremlin and even got another guy, Bizer Dzhambazov, involved in some shady stuff. They were up to no good, collecting info for the enemy.
Roussev was living in a guesthouse by the coast in Great Yarmouth, where he had all sorts of spy gear. We’re talking about tools for kidnapping and spying all over Europe. Pretty intense, right?
In court, it came out that he bragged about his “toys” to his buddies. He was really into it, feeling like a secret agent preparing for missions.
He was also taking orders from some guy named Jan Marsalek, who’s wanted for a massive tech fraud. Talk about a tangled web!
Police found even more spy gear at a flat in North London where Dzhambazov lived with his partner. They recovered thousands of items, including a cap with a hidden camera and a Coke bottle that had a waterproof camera inside.
They even found a micro SD card tucked away in a Minion toy. Can you believe that?
Operation Skirp, the police operation, seized over 3,500 pieces of evidence, including a ton of digital stuff. They showed a jury this device called an “IMSI grabber,” which is basically a fancy box that can capture phone numbers from nearby phones. It’s worth a whopping £120,000!
Another gadget, the Razor II, was modified to be super portable and had a wi-fi connection for remote use. And there was this stealthy little box, the size of a pencil case, that could be hidden under clothes.
These devices were top-notch, able to intercept phone calls and track locations. Other members of this alleged spy group, all from Bulgaria, are denying the charges, but it’s a pretty wild situation.
Among them are a lab assistant, a beautician, and a painter. It’s like a whole crew of spies right in the UK!
