Emergency services are currently addressing an incident, causing delays on the railway line between Newbury and Reading until this evening.
Newbury: So, there’s a bit of a mess on the railway line between Newbury and Reading right now. Emergency services are on the scene dealing with an incident, and it’s causing quite a bit of disruption.
Trains are either delayed or diverted, and it looks like things won’t be back to normal until around 5:45 PM today. If you’re planning to travel, you might want to check your journey first.
Great Western Railway has said they’re working hard with Network Rail and the emergency services to sort things out as quickly and safely as possible. In the meantime, if you have a train ticket, you can hop on the Reading Buses jetBlack 1 route at no extra cost.
This bus route connects Reading, Theale, Aldermaston, Midgham, Thatcham, and Newbury, so it’s a good option if you need to get around. Just show your ticket to the bus driver.
They’re also running coaches between Reading and Newbury, which is another way to get where you need to go. Just keep in mind that your journey might take an extra 90 minutes or so.
Some trains will only be running part of their usual routes, and there might be cancellations too. High-speed trains could be diverted or held at stations further away to avoid more chaos.
