Woolwich: The heartbreaking story of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa has shaken the community. He was tragically stabbed to death on a bus, and a charity believes his life could have been saved.

Kelyan was an aspiring drill rapper, and his death has raised serious concerns about gang violence in the area. Project Lifeline, the charity involved, had previously relocated some of Kelyan’s friends after another stabbing last year.

Mark Rodney from the charity said they had the chance to help Kelyan too, but unfortunately, he never got the opportunity to meet with them. They need more support to help at-risk youth.

After the earlier tragedy, Rodney warned local authorities about the potential for more violence, but his concerns went unheard. He emphasized the need for immediate action to protect young people.

Kelyan’s mother, Mary, shared her pain, saying her son was drawn into gang life from a young age. She had tried to intervene, fearing for his safety.

Despite his troubles, Kelyan had a good heart. He even paid tribute to his friend Daejaun, who had also lost his life to violence. Rodney believes that if Kelyan had been given the chance, he would have taken steps to change his life.

The police are still investigating Kelyan’s murder, but no arrests have been made yet. Meanwhile, local officials are working with various organizations to tackle the root causes of knife crime.

It’s a complex issue, but the community is determined to find solutions and prevent further tragedies.
