Ringwood Fabrics has been named the winner of this year’s festive window competition
Ringwood: The votes are in, and it’s official! The annual Christmas Window Decoration competition wrapped up with over 800 votes this year. It’s all part of the fun Ringwood Winter Wonderland program.
And guess what? Ringwood Fabrics on High Street snagged the top spot, beating out 34 other local businesses and community groups. The Town Mayor, Cllr Rae Frederick, presented them with a shiny trophy.
Angela Cork, the owner, was over the moon to accept the award, especially since her shop is gearing up to celebrate 50 years in the heart of Ringwood High Street in 2025.
She shared, “We wanted our display to involve our customers and the community. We asked folks to knit or crochet green bobble hats with colorful pom-poms to create a festive tree.”
They were hoping for about 25 hats but ended up with a whopping 186! Talk about a festive transformation!
Angela mentioned that people from all walks of life joined in, some who had never knitted before and others who just wanted to make a bunch of pom-poms.
The competition was all about public votes, with each shop window featuring a QR code for easy scanning.
Angela added, “I really wanted to win this year because of our 50-year milestone. We’ve been here for 22 years now.”
Thanks to the display, they attracted a lot of new customers. Many popped in just to compliment the window and ended up discovering all the great stuff they sell.
Now, the hats are up for sale, and all the money raised will go to STARF (Stronger Together Across Ringwood & Fordingbridge), which supports local families. Some hats will also be given to charities like Ringwood Foodbank to help those in need.
Cllr Rae Frederick praised the event, saying, “Once again, Ringwood Winter Wonderland has been a huge success in supporting our wonderful local shops and community organizations.”
She congratulated Ringwood Fabrics for showcasing the amazing community spirit that makes Ringwood special. A big thank you to everyone who participated for their creativity and hard work in making this year’s event so festive!
In the end, Queen Nails took second place, while Little Monkeys Children’s Day Nursery at The Old Cottage came in third. BrightWater Independent Estate Agents and Champions Barbers rounded out the top five.
