Essential electricity work will cause road closures on Winwick Road, impacting traffic from January 6 until Spring 2025
Warrington: Starting January 6, there will be some road closures on Winwick Road. This is due to essential electricity work being done by SP Energy Networks.
They’ll be working on a new underground electricity cable between two substations. It’s all about making sure the local electricity supply stays reliable for everyone.
So, what’s the plan? They’ll start digging a trench along Winwick Road, moving south from the junction with Hawleys Lane. The work is expected to last until Spring 2025.
During this time, there will be a single-lane closure on both Hawleys Lane and the southbound side of Winwick Road. They’ll use temporary traffic lights to help manage the flow of cars.
SPEN aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, but there will be some delays. They’ll be working from 7 am to 5 pm, seven days a week, to get things done as quickly as possible.
As they dig, they’ll cover about 25 to 40 meters each day. This way, they can limit the impact on traffic and keep things moving smoothly.
As the work progresses, they’ll also need to close some intersecting roads temporarily, but only on weekends. They promise to keep access to homes open during this time.
To keep everyone in the loop, SPEN has been sending out letters to affected residents and businesses. They’ve also set up a hotline for any questions or concerns.
