Belfast: So, the Department of Infrastructure decided to hit pause on non-essential roadworks back in November. They usually do this around the holidays to ease traffic.

But now, resurfacing on the Sydenham Bypass is back in action. They’re working nights and some weekends to keep things moving smoothly.

This project kicked off in October and is part of a £3.8 million plan. They had to stop for a bit over Christmas because of all the holiday traffic.

During the week, the Belfast-bound lane will be closed from 10 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Thursday. So, if you’re heading that way, plan ahead!

There are also four weekends where the road will be closed from Friday night to Monday morning, starting January 10. Just a heads up!

The DfI is aware of the hassle these works can cause and has set up traffic management to help out. They’re encouraging everyone to check TrafficwatchNI for updates.

And it’s not just Belfast; roadworks are resuming all over Northern Ireland.

On the A2 Shore Road in Strangford, resurfacing started on Monday and will run until March 14, with daily closures from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Over on Malone Road, the inner lane is closed at College Gardens for resurfacing, so keep an eye out.

The A24 Saintfield Road and Knockbracken Road junction work is still ongoing and is expected to last about 60 weeks. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during this time.

Also, the A20 Upper Newtownards Road is seeing some planned works that started last August and will continue until April 2025.

And don’t forget about the A5 Tullyvar Road, which will be closed for tree cutting on January 12.

Lastly, there’s a closure on Caledon Road in County Tyrone for resurfacing from January 17 to 21. Just another reminder to plan your routes!
