Wrexham AFC owner Rob McElhenney shares family safety news after evacuating due to wildfires in Los Angeles
Los Angeles: So, Rob McElhenney, the co-owner of Wrexham AFC, just gave a shout-out to fans about his family’s safety. They had to evacuate because of those crazy wildfires in LA. He took to X, formerly Twitter, to let everyone know they’re okay.
He was pretty shocked by how bad the fires are. Rob, who runs Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds, praised the bravery of the emergency crews. He shared how grateful he is for all the support from friends and fans, saying, “Our family is safe. So many homes, whole neighborhoods are just… gone.”
The Palisades Fire has been a real monster, burning over 15,000 acres and destroying around 1,000 buildings. Sadly, there have been eleven confirmed deaths. It’s one of the worst fires LA has seen in a while.
Rob lives in Brentwood, which is under evacuation orders too. He’s there with his wife, Kaitlin Olson, and their two boys. They have a nice place with a main house and a pool house, but we don’t know how it’s holding up right now.
Meanwhile, even Vice President Kamala Harris had to evacuate her Brentwood home because of a nearby fire. This area is known for its celebrity residents, including LeBron James and Ben Affleck.
Brentwood is pretty upscale, with home values around £1.3 million. That’s way above the national average. Rent isn’t cheap either, averaging about £2,417 a month. The community has seen its share of wildfires before, with a big one back in 1961 that wiped out nearly 500 homes.
Since then, fire officials have marked parts of Brentwood as high-risk for fires. Rob’s been getting tons of support from Wrexham fans after he shared the good news about his family.
One fan even said, “So glad to hear that you and your family are safe. Much love from Wrexham!” It’s nice to see the community rallying around him.
Rob’s also known for his charitable work in Wrexham, and now the town is planning to help those affected by the LA fires. Wrexham Police FC is organizing a charity football match to raise funds, and they’ve started a GoFundMe campaign to support the cause.
They’re really committed to helping out, saying they want to raise money for those hit hard by the wildfires. It’s great to see such a strong connection between Wrexham and LA during tough times.
