Local leaders urge community involvement to save the beloved Romsey Carnival
Romsey: The Romsey Carnival is facing a tough time. Organizers are sounding the alarm about needing new volunteers to keep things running smoothly.
After a successful Santa’s Fun Run recently, the urgency for help has become clear. It’s a real community effort, and without fresh faces, the carnival could be in jeopardy.
Caroline Nokes, the local MP, shared her thoughts. She emphasized how much work goes into events like the Carnival and how vital volunteers are to their success.
She mentioned how much the community loves the Carnival and hopes more people will step up to help keep it alive. Local businesses are also encouraged to pitch in with sponsorships or donations.
Nick Adams-King, the leader of Hampshire County Council, echoed these sentiments. He praised the Carnival Committee for their hard work over the years and stressed the need for new volunteers.
He reminded everyone that events like the Carnival don’t just happen; they require a lot of effort from many people. He invited anyone interested to join the Carnival Committee’s meeting to see how they can help.
Romsey’s mayor, Cllr John Parker, also weighed in. He pointed out that many volunteer groups are struggling to attract younger members. He hopes some younger folks will step up to fill the gaps left by retiring members.
He wrapped up by thanking everyone who has contributed to the Carnival’s success over the years. It’s clear that the community spirit in Romsey is strong, and with a little help, the Carnival can continue to thrive.
