Join the Romsey Choral Society for a workshop on Handel’s Saul this January
Romsey: The Romsey Choral Society is hosting a workshop on January 25. It’s all about Handel’s oratorio, Saul. The event runs from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM at Romsey Methodist Church on The Hundred.
This workshop is part of their prep for a performance of Saul at Romsey Abbey on March 29. It’s a great chance to dive into some beautiful music.
A spokesperson for the society mentioned that Saul is less famous than Messiah, but it’s a vibrant and dramatic piece. It tells the story of Israel’s first king and his successor, David.
Richard Pearce, the conductor, will lead the workshop. He’s well-known for his work with the BBC Singers and even plays at the Last Night of the BBC Proms.
Participants can join the choir for the concert, which will be accompanied by the Monteverdi String Orchestra. Sounds exciting, right?
The workshop will also feature Richard McVeigh, the organist at Romsey Abbey. He’s a popular YouTuber with over 100,000 followers on his channel, Beauty in Sound.
It costs £20 to join, which includes music hire and some light refreshments. If you’re interested, check out Ticketsource or the Romsey Choral Society website to register.
