Romsey Town Council has formally objected to a proposed two-storey extension in Horseshoe Drive, citing concerns from local residents.
Romsey: So, there’s this situation in Horseshoe Drive where a guy named Edward Esdon wants to build a two-storey extension on his house. He’s put in a request to Test Valley Borough Council for it.
But not everyone is on board. Robin Cavalier, who lives next door, has raised some concerns about the plans. He mentioned at a Romsey Town Council meeting that he and his family get along well with their neighbor, but the designs made them a bit uneasy.
Robin said they had a chat about the extension, and while they don’t mind it, the design looks like it could be a separate dwelling. That’s what’s bothering them. He’s hoping that if the house ever gets sold, it won’t turn into a place with multiple tenants.
Then there’s Cllr Janet Burnage, who pointed out that the extension is right up against the fence. She’s worried it’ll make the property feel cramped. Plus, she noted that granny annexes are usually just one storey, not two.
Cllr Mark Cooper also chimed in, saying that houses like this are in high demand, and he thinks the extension doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the estate. In the end, the committee decided to object to the planning application.
