Alvin, a sweet lurcher cross, is hoping to find a loving family after years in rescue care
Preston: Meet Alvin, a five-year-old lurcher cross who’s been waiting for a home since May 2022. He was rescued from a house in the West Midlands, where he suffered from untreated injuries.
Alvin’s been hanging out at the RSPCA’s Warrington branch, but he couldn’t be adopted until February last year. His previous owner had to deal with some legal stuff before he could be rehomed.
This adorable pup is known as a ‘couch potato’ by the staff, who just can’t get enough of him. Despite their efforts to find him a home last year, he was still overlooked.
Just before Christmas, Alvin made a 30-mile trip to the RSPCA’s Preston branch. The team there is hoping this fresh start will help him find a family.
Centre manager Ashleigh Kay shared that people might think Alvin is super energetic because of his breed, but he’s actually pretty chill. He loves to explore but also enjoys lounging on the sofa.
Alvin is a gentle giant who’s already won the hearts of the staff. They’re eager to find him a loving home where he can thrive.
He’s a big softie who loves treats and will need owners who can help him build trust. He’s more comfortable with female dogs and needs slow introductions to other pets.
Alvin has a high prey drive, so new owners should keep that in mind during walks. He could live with older kids but needs to be the only pet in the house.
Katie Buckley, the animal care manager, mentioned how hard it was to see people pass him by. They’re hopeful that this change of scenery will finally bring him the luck he deserves.
If you’re interested in adopting Alvin or want to learn more, you can reach out to the Preston and District Branch at 01772 792553 or check out the RSPCA website.
The RSPCA encourages everyone to consider adopting rescue dogs to give them a loving home and help reduce the number of animals in shelters.
