Rudy Giuliani faces a contempt hearing in Manhattan over defamation claims by Georgia election workers seeking $148 million in damages
Manhattan: So, Rudy Giuliani is heading to court again. This time, he’s got a contempt hearing coming up. It’s all about those Georgia election workers who he defamed. They’re looking to collect a whopping $148 million from him.
These two women, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, are the ones he made some pretty serious claims against. Because of that, they won a big judgment, and now they want to get their money. They’re even after his fancy stuff, like his Mercedes and his penthouse.
Now, Giuliani’s got to explain to the judge why he shouldn’t face some serious consequences for not following court orders. He’s missed deadlines, and the workers are not happy about it.
His lawyer even tried to get him to appear via Zoom because he’s having some health issues. Apparently, he’s got knee problems and some lung issues from being at Ground Zero on 9/11. But the judge wasn’t having it. He said Giuliani didn’t provide any proof and has shown up in person before.
