Salisbury Model Centre has made it to the top five in a national model shop competition
Salisbury: The Salisbury Model Centre, located on Fisherton Street, is in the running for the Model Shop of the Year Award. This initiative is from Hornby Hobbies, the company behind popular brands like Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix, and Corgi.
This is the first time Hornby Hobbies has held these awards. They want to shine a light on independent model shops that are vital to the hobbyist community across the UK.
Excitingly, Salisbury Model Centre is one of the five finalists. They were chosen based on customer nominations and a panel review from Hornby Hobbies.
Clive “Oz” Osbaldeston, the owner, shared his excitement: “Being in the top five model shops in the country is pretty cool.”
He added, “Winning would be fantastic and could really help bring more customers to the shop, both locally and from further away.”
Voting wraps up on Wednesday, February 12, and the winner will be announced soon after. The lucky shop will snag a special prize package.
They’ll get £2,500 worth of Hornby Hobbies products to boost their inventory, a trophy to celebrate their win, and a professional photoshoot along with a press release to promote their achievement.
Two runners-up will also get a £500 credit for Hornby Hobbies products, plus a photoshoot and press release to help their business grow.
Shaun Dubberley, the group sales director at Hornby Hobbies, emphasized the importance of these retailers. “They’re crucial not just to our industry but to communities all over the UK,” he said.
He added, “Our Model Shop of the Year awards are all about celebrating their contributions and helping them thrive.”
