Best One in Sankey Bridges faces council rejection over parcel lockers due to noise and parking concerns from local residents
Sankey Bridges: So, there’s this shop called Best One on Liverpool Road that wanted to keep its parcel lockers. But guess what? The council said no. They applied to Warrington Borough Council to keep the lockers, but it didn’t go through.
These lockers are super handy for folks who aren’t home to get their packages. They’ve been around since June 2022 and let people pick up their stuff anytime, day or night.
The lockers are from a brand called InPost, and they’re open 24/7. But not everyone is happy about them. Some neighbors are really fed up with the noise, especially when delivery vans show up at the crack of dawn.
One neighbor even complained about the noise from engines, slamming doors, and loud music at all hours. They said it’s been waking them up, and they’ve tried talking to the shop owner and the delivery company, but nothing has changed.
The council’s environmental team also chimed in, saying the noise is bothering the locals. Plus, the transport team pointed out that the parking situation is a mess, with people parking in unsafe ways.
When the council looked at the situation, they decided that keeping the lockers would really mess with the neighbors’ peace. They said the noise at odd hours just isn’t okay.
The council also mentioned that having the lockers would make parking even worse, which is already a problem. They’re worried it could lead to dangerous driving and parking in the area.
So, in the end, the council said no to the lockers, saying they just can’t allow something that would make life harder for the people living nearby.
