Urfan Sharif, convicted of murdering his daughter, was attacked in prison, suffering non-life-threatening injuries from a brutal ambush.
South London: So, it turns out Urfan Sharif, the guy who was convicted of killing his daughter Sara, got attacked in prison. Can you believe it? Two inmates actually slashed his throat with a tuna can lid. Ouch!
This all went down on New Year’s Day at HMP Belmarsh, which is known for being a tough place. Sharif had just started his life sentence, with a minimum of 40 years, for that horrific crime against his 10-year-old daughter.
Luckily, his injuries were described as non-life-threatening. A source mentioned he was pretty lucky to survive and ended up needing stitches. He’ll have scars to remind him of this brutal encounter.
Just last month, he was sentenced for Sara’s murder, along with her stepmom and uncle. The details of what happened to Sara were just heartbreaking. She had 25 fractures and 71 injuries, including bite marks and burns from an iron.
After the sentencing, Sara’s mom, Olga, was understandably furious. She said the trio should all “die in prison.” She couldn’t wrap her head around how anyone could do such terrible things to their own child.
She even called Urfan a monster, saying that was too nice of a word for him. It’s just so tragic that Sara was in such a dangerous situation, especially after her dad was awarded custody despite past abuse allegations.
According to the prosecution, Sharif created a “culture of violent discipline” in their home, making violence against Sara seem normal. It’s just sickening.
As for the prison attack, the Prison Service said they’re looking into it, but it’s too early to comment. The police are also investigating the assault, but they confirmed that Sharif’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.
