Derbyshire: So, there was this argument between two girls on Snapchat, right? The police ended up logging it as a non-crime hate incident. Can you believe that?

One girl called the other a “Polish t–t,” and that’s what triggered the whole thing. The police report mentioned that the school had already dealt with it.

It’s wild to think that there were over 14,000 of these non-crime hate incidents recorded in Britain last year. That’s a lot, isn’t it?

These incidents are supposed to be for cases where there’s real hostility and a chance things could escalate. But some folks are saying the police are wasting time on petty stuff.

Like, there were reports of someone getting upset over a rude word spelled with alphabet cups at Tesco. Seriously? And another case involved a cleaner refusing to clean a flat!

Even the City of London Police had a log about a dispute over a parking space. It’s just getting ridiculous.

Jake Hurfurt from Big Brother Watch said it best: a lot of these incidents shouldn’t even be on police records. It just makes the real hate incidents seem less serious.

And with all the fuss over hate speech laws, especially after the whole Allison Pearson situation, people are really questioning the value of these non-crime hate incidents.
