Glasgow: A couple just got a break after a pretty serious situation. Yasmin Manzur, 27, and Connor McBride, 29, were in hot water after their four-week-old baby was found unwell and ended up in the hospital. Turns out, the little one had traces of cocaine in his system.

This all went down on May 22, 2023. The baby was taken to the hospital, and tests showed cocaine in his urine, which kicked off a police investigation. When the cops searched their home, they found traces of the drug on baby dummies in the kitchen and living room. Not good!

Both of them pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the baby. McBride also admitted to having cocaine on him. The sheriff, Tony Kelly, decided that sending them to jail wouldn’t be fair, saying it would be “wholly disproportionate.” He pointed out that they should have known better than to have drugs around a baby.

He made it clear that they were putting the baby at serious risk. Thankfully, the baby didn’t suffer any long-term harm, but he did need to be incubated and ventilated for a while. The couple was ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid work and were put under supervision for two years. McBride, who has a record, also got a tag to keep him home at night.

Manzur woke up to find the baby unwell and called for an ambulance. After the baby was taken to the hospital, things got worse, and that’s when the police got involved. Manzur claimed she didn’t know how this happened, while McBride wasn’t too keen on talking without a lawyer.

When the police searched their place, they found cocaine on surfaces and even on the baby’s dummies. Both were arrested but didn’t say much during questioning. Luckily, the baby is okay now.

Manzur’s lawyer said she’s turned her life around and found a job in events management. McBride’s lawyer mentioned he understands the seriousness of the situation and is now working to help others in similar situations. It’s a tough lesson learned for both of them.
